Construction under way for Skate Parks!
In a surprising turn of events, construction has now commenced on the new skate park at Dimboola Recreation Reserve, well ahead of previously anticipated commencement dates.
Initial contractor availability estimated the start of construction of the new skate parks at Dimboola and Rainbow were likely to be delayed until April or May in 2018. However, because of an unplanned break in the appointed contractor’s schedule, Trinity Skate Parks have advised the will be able to commence construction at Dimboola in early November.
Foundations are currently being prepared ahead of the arrival of the construction specialists to complete the park.
Commenting on the arrival of the contractor, Hindmarsh Shire Council, Mayor Cr. Ron Ismay said he was pleased that this important project was making a start now. ”Initially, Council were disappointed that lengthy delays were likely as a result of the number of skate parks being constructed around the country. So it was a nice surprise when the contractor advised that they would be able to make a start at Dimboola almost immediately with an estimated completion date before Christmas, which is sure to be popular with our young people!”
Construction of the Rainbow skate park will get underway after the Christmas break, meaning it should be completed in late March next year. Cr Ismay added, “the new skate park for Rainbow should be ready for our younger locals to enjoy before the cooler weather arrives, though I am confident they will be there come rain, hail or shine!”
Both projects have been made possible through funding from Hindmarsh Shire Council and the Victorian Government’s, Sport and Recreation Victoria Community Sports Infrastructure fund.
Last week fencing and earth works started to remove the topsoil and survey the site. It is understood that the Bruce Miller team will haul in 350 tonnes of soil for the construction.
