Dimboola is getting behind MOvember and men’s health again
It's that time of year again when all the blokes need to get hairy and grow a moustache for MOvember.
“Dimboola as a community has always been strong supporters of MOvember and this year should be no exception,” said co-ordinator Col Campbell.
“All one has to do to participate in MOvember is be clean shaven on the first of the month then see what type of Mo can be grown for the month and try your best to get some donations,” he said.
MOvember is a worldwide event with millions worldwide, participating in raising important funds and just as importantly awareness. Men's health is a huge problem throughout the world and MOvember is doing their bit to make all the blokes out there live a bit longer. The main focus for MOvember is Prostate and Testicular Cancers along with mental health issues.
Mental health has become such a huge problem that in the last year there has been one person every three seconds die from mental health illnesses.
Together with Beyondblue and various other organisations MOvember has been working extremely hard to raise as much awareness as they can to help slow the rate of men's health issues resulting in the loss of lives.
Something for everyone to get involved with is the MOVE challenge. Part of each and everyone's health is to be active, so part of the MOvember campaign is to be active each and every day of the month.
Mr Campbell said, “the MOvember website has a move section where you can set targets for distance covered for the month so people can see your progress and donate along the way. This is not only for the males to be involved in but also for our MO Sistas, so fellas make sure that you don't do this alone and get the whole family involved.
“Make an effort fellas to get around your mates and ask the question of them, if they have had a health check lately and if they are doing ok.”
“Men's health is something that we all need to be open about and not be shy to talk to a doctor, wife, friend or even our mother in laws, so come on guys get your MO's growing and support men's health with this great cause,” Mr Campbell said.
Those willing to participate can register on-line with the MOvember app or movember.com
