Girls are keen but the fellers are slow to try out
The Dimboola Rowing Club is continuing its successful campaign to attract rowers for the rowing regatta. Well, more like success at attracting the girls.
After their official season opening last week the club is still waiting on the fellers to come down and try out for the regatta.
John Nichols and Bill Thomson, now in their senior years will not be rowing this year after many years on the water.
Bill Thomson said, “the bones are starting to hurt now so it’s time to give it away.”
“This means the club will not have any male teams this year, unless some of the blokes come down on Sunday and form a team.”
The Dimboola Rowing Club has been on the river every Sunday morning with lots of girls turning up to try their hand at rowing.
“It would be good if we can get some of the boys to come and try,” said Mr Thomson.
“It is a great way to keep fit through the summer, you have the beautiful river to train on. It’s the envy of many other clubs.”
The Dimboola Rowing Club 130th Regatta will be on November 11 and the Head of the River on November 12.
