Dimboola Lions Club has offically welcomed Paul and La Vergne Lehmann to the team.

With their children now "old enough to do their own thing", the couple were looking for a way to spend their time outside their busy jobs.

"Lions aligns with our values," Ms Lehmann said.

"We're community-minded people."

Ms Lehmann said it was nice to be involved in positive things that were being done in the community.

Showing her inititive, Ms Lehmann took it upon herself to contact Ecobatt to request a bin for recycling batteries.

"I'd seen it being done elsewhere and there wasn't a place in Dimboola where people could dispose their batteries," Ms Lehmann said.

This has already proved to be highly successful, with other Lions clubs wanting to employ the same idea.

The Lehmanns admire the approach Dimboola Lions Club takes when it comes to the community and the good work members can do.

"We're doers," Ms Lehmann said.

Mr and Ms Lehmann had previously volunteered for Dimboola Lions Club before deciding to join, having helped during the driver reviver program and staffing the recycling machine and some market stalls.

Welcoming the couple to the club last month, Dimboola Lions Club secretary Jan John said it was nice to receive new members.

"We're always on the lookout," Ms John said.

Ms Lehmann said she didn't want to sit through meetings all the time because she already had enough of that in her day job.

"All we ask is that you attend three meetings a year - you can pick and choose which ones," Ms John said.

Dimboola Lions Club invites anyone else interested in joining to make contact with the club.
